eat some of the first 3.
so the last few days i've tried one at a time, cut to the exact size of a grape, and tried them out on him.
i figure in this heat the fruit is refreshing and also juicy so helps to keep them from getting dehydrated.
however bob won't even try them. he sniffs them, fiddles with them, and then turns up his nose at them and i end up cleaning dried fruit up out of his pen later.
i thought for sure this morning as it's already 100 degrees that he would like the watermelon (earl eats the watermelon first and then the cantalope), but no way. bob just left it lay again.
of course over the years i've tried all types of fresh fruit and vegis and he never would eat them whole or cut up, but i thought i'd try again for tamra...no go tamra!
the only human food bob will eat is grapes...and he'll devour as many as i put in his pen as fast as i put them in.
and of course we all know he doesn't eat toads
like a normal raccoon would in the wild...bob
just disects them to see what is inside (yuck) and then leaves them for me to find and clean up.
it's funny, at first i thought that he didn't eat whole vegis and fruit cuz he didn't know how to bite into them so i started trying cut up things, but he wouldn't eat them cut up either. however, bob has no problem eating a large size dog bisquit every night for a treat (yes, bob gets one for nighty-night just like the dogs) and those are hard and big and have to be bit into (one good thing is as old as bob is, he hardly has any tarter on his teeth
).
so as i've known for a long time, bob is a freak raccoon!
but then aren't all my animals that i keep?
